Currently Recording their debut album! www.facebook.com/soundsofsirus

Here is a little video pertaining to the drum tracking for our forthcoming album. Marcus did really well! There will be some more of these in the near future.

Pre-Album Recording

The recording process for our first full length album is well and truly underway. Actually, an awful lot has happened since last time I updated this blog! I will try to summarize in dot-point-timeline form. Here goes…

  • After we released Singularity in April last year, we did a bunch of shows up and down the east coast and had one hell of an adventure along the way. Far too much happened for me to mention in passing really, so I won’t.
  • We made a couple of film clips and they went down alright, we learned a lot in a short amount of time. you can check em out on youtube if you haven’t seen them.
  • We had been working on material since before Singularity was even released and after everything had settled down we really got stuck into it. Matt D’Arcy (the guy who produced our EP) popped in for a listen one day and got keen. It was at around this time that the idea of making an album became a plan.
  • Our writing process began to evolve to a point where we began to splinter, and after a lot of time thinking and talking we decided to part ways with guitar-extraordinaire Rory Bond.
  • Writing got back into swing while we thought about who could play a second guitar. Eventually it just made sense for me (Josh) to play, because it was working and we really weren’t in a position to find someone to magically fit into the fold a month before we began recording an album.
  • We started recording in May, with about 15 tracks to work through.

So that’s the last year in 250 words or less. I will try to be a bit more through throughout the next year!

Singularity Lyrics

This is for Adam D because he’s cool and he asked nicely. Enjoy!

Singularity

No one wants to talk to me,
I’ve got sycophants on the tv and they’re talking shit,
It gets me thinking.

I type things into my computer
And they disappear right up into the ether
And it gets me high.

I am alone,
No one will share my rambling on the phone now.
One man and several bottles in a line on the floor in the room,
Feed off the gloom.

There’s no one listening to my pain,
They’re all just waiting for their turn to complain,
It gets me drinking.

I type things into my computer
And they disappear right up into the ether
And it gets me high.

I am alone,
No one will share my rambling on the phone again.
One man and several bottles in a line on the floor,
In the room, feed off each other’s gloom,
We feed off each other’s gloom.

There’s no one listening to my pain,
They’re all just waiting…
I type things into my computer
But I’m waiting…

There’s no one.
I am alone.

Pantomime Lyrics

Everything you say to me
Is nothing like your showing me
You’re playing like a pantomime
Ridiculous and so benign
Everything you claim to be
Is everything I don’t want to see
You’re such a little/fucking drama queen
About as melodic as a tambourine

Nothing that you say to me is real
Everything is make-believe in your world.

I can’t believe one single thing that you say to me
I won’t believe one piece of drivel that escapes from your bitter mouth.
